Dragons on Fire: MSUM Sweeps Creighton and Bemidji in Four-Game Win Streak

The MSUM Dragons have been an absolute force on the ice this February, stringing together a dominant four-game win streak while putting up a staggering 34 goals. After taking care of business on the road against the Creighton Bluejays, the Dragons returned home to West Fargo Sports Arena and completely dismantled the Bemidji Beavers.

Here is how the latest matchups went down:

Road Warriors: Taking Down Creighton

The Dragons traveled down to Omaha and immediately set the tone with back-to-back nine-goal performances. Game one at Grover Ice Rink brought a unique challenge; the smaller-than-standard ice surface turned the matchup into a highly physical, chippy battle.

Despite the tight quarters, the Dragons’ offense could not be contained. Creighton showed a few flashes of life, putting together late-game pushes in an attempt to close the gap, but the Dragons stayed in the driver’s seat the entire time and never allowed the Bluejays to catch up. It was MSUM’s game from puck drop to the final horn.

Defending Home Ice: Suffocating the Beavers

Returning home to host Bemidji, the Dragons shifted into an entirely different gear. If the Creighton series was a gritty offensive showcase, the Bemidji series was a masterclass in total team dominance.

The entire MSUM roster was flying out there, completely overwhelming the Beavers on both ends of the ice. The defense was the real story of the weekend, suffocating Bemidji’s attack and dictating the pace of play. While Bemidji managed to find the back of the net a few times late in Friday’s game after getting some lucky bounces when the game was already well out of reach, Saturday was a defensive clinic. Giving up just four goals across the entire weekend is a testament to the blue line shutting down any hopes the Beavers had.

Looking Ahead: One Last Tilt Before Break

The Dragons will look to keep this massive momentum rolling as they head to the Super Rink this Saturday to take on Bethel. With a well-deserved Spring Break coming up right after, expect MSUM to leave everything on the ice to secure the win and close out this stretch on a high note.
